If you want an authentic New Orleans experience without a bunch of crowds and drunk people, this is the place to go. But a walk down Magazine is perfect any time of day. The sunset vibes on Magazine cannot be beat- there’s so much old New Orleans architecture and so many local haunts. Magazine Street has endless shops, restaurants, and bars for all tastes and price ranges, and it’s never insanely crowded like Royal Street or Bourbon Street. The best street for a stroll is NOT in the French Quarter, my friends. I promise this will cost less than those New Orleans standard restaurants you always hear about, and the food will be a lot better. They also have a great cocktail and mocktail program. If you’re not an oyster fan, no worries! They have a great menu of American, Italian, and seafood dishes. They also have the best oyster selection in the city. The wait staff is so nice and knowledgeable. It’s a newer restaurant and has the BEST atmosphere. It’s downtown but not in the French Quarter, so you’re in the action without being totally cramped. For date night, I highly suggest Le Chat Noir. It’s quaint and makes you feel like you’re really at a neighborhood spot. They have multiple locations, but my favorite is the one on Magazine Street, which is shown in the first picture.

They’re definitely the best local coffee spot, with options for everyone and a decent food menu. My number one suggestion is French Truck. If you’re looking for low-key, local spots with great food and great atmosphere (and good Instagram opportunities), here are my recs! But I also know that people who aren’t from here usually go to the same places, which are on every list of “Best Places to - In New Orleans,” always crowded, and usually not the best the city has to offer. I love tourist season in NOLA- I love seeing people experience the charm and character of this city. New Orleans is about to be crowded with tourists for Jazz Fest and other spring events.
